Not sure if this qualifies as bug report or if it is a feature request to revert back the re-positioning of the pin icon on shortcuts in the New Tab Page since FF139. The new position in the top left corner of the shortcut image is more than ugly and does not have any obvious benefits over its previous position in front of the shortcut name.

Please move the pin icon back in front of the shortcut name as it has been <FF139 and as it is described here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/customize-items-on-firefox-new-tab-page

I'm with you. I just noticed this change, and it immediately felt off.

Even better, give us the option to change its position as we like โ€” or disable it entirely. My new tab only has pinned icons, so it's completely useless for my use case.

Ideally the pin should be on the top left because even in real life, when you pin a paper on a board, you put the pin on the top left not buttom ..I would suggest to implement the same in Firefox Android, it looks ugly at the bottom

Pins on the shortcut icons are just annoying.

Hello

You can try
1 - Go to Configuration Editor for Firefox https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/about-config-editor-firefox
2 - Enter a search term browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.newtabShortcuts.refresh and set the false value

Take a look at https://connect.mozilla.org/t5/discussions/feedback-for-the-new-tab-layout-variants-in-the-home-page...

Yes please remove it, It is an ugly, distracting and completely unnecessary addition. An otherwise clean looking home page now appears to have little insects nesting on it.

I posted a similar comment about the push pins.  I received a response from Denys.  He informed me that I had posted my comment in the wrong place, BUT the good news is that he also provided a fix.  It works.

Good news: this change can be reverted! You'll need to set browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.newtabShortcuts.refreshFirefox preference to false in the Configuration Editor

  • Type about:config in the address bar and press Enter
  • A warning page may appear. Click "Accept the Risk and Continue" to go to the about:config page.
  • Enter browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.newtabShortcuts.refresh in the Search preference name box.
  • Set the browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.newtabShortcuts.refresh preference (named exactly like that) to false by toggling the Toggle button (or just double-click on the preference).

This takes care of it.
